Abstract

In the case of refrigerant use, there is a worldwide trend to reduce GWP and ODP. One of the alternatives is usage of natural refrigerants. R717 Ammonia is used more than 100 years, but due to his toxicity and some specific features were used just for large power output and large refills. The ever-rooted phobia and fear of ammonia toxicity limit the use of refrigerants using this refrigerant in the primary circuit. One way to minimize the threat is to minimize refrigerant charges. Refrigerant R723 is the way how to use all advantages of natural refrigerant R717 in small capacities, simplify refrigeration cycle and minimize refrigerant charges.
