Abstract

The fin-and-tube heat exchanger has been extensively used in the fields of refrigeration, heat pump, air-conditioning engineering, etc. The performance of a heat exchanger affects the effectiveness of the heat exchange and makes the study of heat exchanger becomes important. The presence of the air cooler unit is usually taken into account by the investigators, but with very simplified geometry and physics. Results of numerical modeling using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software ANSYS FLUENT of fin-and-tube air cooler is presented in the paper. Two different approches were used: the Dual Cell Model and porous media conditions. On the basis of experimental data the heat transfer coefficient was calculated and compared with heat tranfer coefficient obtain by numerical simulation.
