Abstrakt

An overall cooling load of any air conditioning system (ACS) comprises the unstable load range, corresponding to ambient air precooling with significant cooling load fluctuations in response to current climatic conditions, and a comparatively stable load part for further air subcooling to a target temperature. The unstable and stable cooling load ranges can be covered by applying refrigeration machines of different types. To avoid oversizing two different methods for determining the chiller design cooling capacities, based on the annual effect due air cooling, are considered, providing a closed to the maximum annual effect and the maximum rate of the effect increment.
Such an approach is quite reasonable for rational designing of ACS for comfort space conditioning as well as for cooling air at the inlet of combustion engines by waste heat recovery chillers to enhance engine fuel efficiency at high ambient air temperatures.
